Why Should I Get Travel Insurance?
Off on your holliers this year? Whether you’re taking a far-flung adventure or staying a little closer to home, travel insurance is always worth adding to your packing checklist. It can be confusing though, figuring out which policies cover what. Worth bearing in mind is that when you buy or switch to our Kick-Off Plan and choose the travel and sports package (at no extra cost), you’re automatically covered by a free travel insurance policy. In other words, you’re left to focus on the most pressing part of your holidays – relaxing! So, what does this travel insurance actually cover?
If Something Goes Wrong
Unfortunately, sometimes things go wrong, and you’re left with no other option but to cancel your trip. In circumstances like a serious injury or illness where you can’t travel, the last thing you want to have to think about is how you’ll pay for a holiday you can no longer take. This travel insurance covers you in several circumstances if something goes wrong.
Uh-Oh…
Wallet, keys… uh-oh. There’s nothing quite like that sinking feeling when you’ve forgotten your passport. While it’s certainly going to be a hassle, the policy covers you if your passport is lost, stolen or destroyed during your journey.
Vaccinations for that Trip of a Lifetime
If you’re jetting off somewhere that requires vaccinations, the travel and sports package entitles you to a €50 contribution, as well as a 10% discount at the Tropical Medical Bureau. If you’re not sure exactly what vaccines you need, you’ll also get €30 back on a travel consultation with the team there.
You Suffer an Illness
It’s a disaster scenario. You’ve booked your dream holiday but while you’re away, you get struck down by an illness or injury and have to be admitted to hospital. Yes, it ruins your holiday, but you run the risk of returning home with a hefty medical bill that runs into the thousands. With this policy, you’ll be covered up to €100,000.
Long Delays
A delayed flight, especially when you’re connecting, can cause a major dent in your travel plans. If your flight is delayed for one of the reasons listed in the policy booklet by more than 12 hours, your travel insurance will cover you up to €300.
You Miss Your Flight
No matter how punctual you are, external circumstances can cause you to miss a departure. Now if you oversleep we can’t help you, but this insurance will cover you up to €550 for a missed departure due to circumstances beyond your control. For example, if the public transport you’re using doesn’t run to its timetable, or the vehicle you’re travelling in breaks down en route.
Your Stuff Goes Missing…
If you’ve ever lost your luggage, you know just what a nuisance it can be. Hopefully, your possessions are just a bit delayed, not lost forever. In that case, you’ll be covered up to €165 for essential replacement items if you’re parted from your luggage for more than 12 hours.
